Lenten Butterflies
We talked about 'changes' and how we can change for the better, by giving up something we like and taking up something that improves our character, during the Lenten period of 40 days. The children wrote their Lenten promises, on a pair of footprints to remind us of our Lenten Journey. We often refer to how we are travelling on this journey of change. We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and discussed the positive changes as the hungry caterpillar became a beautiful butterfly. The junior children painted butterfly wings and at our Junior assembly we wore them whilst we sang Andrew Chinn's song 'If I Were a Butterfly" .
We definitely have our fair share of the 'cuteness factor'.
Prayer
Morning prayer is a peaceful time when we pray for our own needs and the needs of others' (with an enphasis on the latter), talk to God and show gratitude for what we have been given. The children also take time to reflect on their own Lenten efforts and engage in traditional prayer and song.
